The House task force assigned to investigate the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump requested access to federal briefings on the matter from key agencies. In the letter, written by the panel’s two leaders, Representatives Mike Kelly and Jason Crow, the task force highlighted the special investigative authority granted by the House. They stated that their request for the briefings “supersede” all similar requests from other House committees and members.
The letter was sent to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and FBI Director Christopher Wray, requesting that their departments and agencies provide “all documents and information that have been produced to date” regarding the assassination attempt “no later than August 16.”
